Many municipalities use chloramines to manage bacterial growth in water distribution systems and to help reduce the formation of trihalomethanes (THMs). However, growing concerns about disinfection by-products (DBPs) created by chloramines have increased the need for effective removal solutions. Catalytic carbon offers a proven method for chloramine reduction and is also effective for treating hydrogen sulfide, commonly known as “sulfur water,” in private well applications. Aries catalytic carbon cartridges are manufactured using Calgon Centaur™ Carbon, a specially enhanced carbon produced through an advanced process that modifies granular activated carbon (GAC) to improve its catalytic performance beyond conventional carbons.
